Over the past decade, the MENA region has made it onto the global entrepreneurship map, with numerous milestones, as highlighted by Arabnet. The impact of innovation and entrepreneurship from Beirut has also made headlines, with some big ecosystem contributions. They include:

• The launch of Middle East Venture Partners (MEVP) in 2009
• Wamda went live, launched by Fadi Ghandour and Habib Haddad in 2010
• Anghami came onto the music scene in 2012
• Nestila, the Lebanese company behind Shahiya.com achieved an IRR of almost 100 percent
